Maldives Financial Expo 2026 officially opened today, bringing together 30 financial institutions to showcase financial services, innovation and financial literacy initiatives.

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu inaugurated the expo before touring the exhibition stalls and viewing the products and services on display.

Held after a nine-year hiatus, the three-day expo aims to connect the public with banks, insurance providers, regulators, higher education institutions and other relevant state agencies while promoting financial awareness and innovation.

The event, which runs through Saturday, is open daily from 3:00pm to 10:00pm.

Visitors will be entered into prize draws, with a grand prize of MVR 25,000. Daily prizes include five iPads and seven MVR 5,000 commemorative banknotes. Other prizes include two MacBooks, two Apple AirPods, a three-night full-board guesthouse stay for two, three MVR 5,000 gift cards, 12 gift cards worth MVR 1,000 and 36 gift cards worth MVR 500.

This year's theme is "Empowering a Sustainable Future: Participation, Innovation and Technical Skills."

In addition to exhibition booths, the programme features panel discussions involving financial sector professionals and policymakers on topics including financial inclusion, financial literacy and developments in the financial sector.

The expo also includes a food festival, children's activities and a fireworks display scheduled for Friday evening.

The previous Maldives Financial Expo was held in 2017 and attracted large public attendance.
