Sri Lankan Airlines led passenger arrivals to Maldives in May

Data from the Tourism Ministry indicates that the highest number of passenger arrivals to Maldives in May was through Sri Lankan Airlines.

Data from the Tourism Ministry indicates that the highest number of passenger arrivals to Maldives in May was through Sri Lankan Airlines. 

Statistics publicized by the ministry shows that 18,700 in-bound passengers flew to Maldives via Sri Lankan airlines in May. The airline held `19 flights per week. 

In April, the highest passenger numbers were recorded on Singapore Airlines, with the figure reaching 18,100 passengers. 

The second highest number of passenger arrivals in May was through Indian budget airline Indigo, with 25 flights per week. 

Third on the list is Emirates, with 16,000 passengers recorded through 19 flights per week. 

In March, Aeroflot brought in the highest number of passengers, amounting to over 19,000 individuals. In February, Emirates was leading with over 32,000 passengers. 

Prior to the war in the Middle East, Middle Eastern airlines were leading on the list, including Emirates, Qatar Airways and Etihad. 

After April, passenger numbers on Middle Eastern airlines are also gradually on the rise again.
