New Kangaroo Kids, Billabong International campus to open in Hulhumale'

The Billabong International High School and Kangaroo Kids campus that has begun development in Hulhumale' Phase 2 is set to finish this year, with teaching to begin in January 2027.

Billabong International High School and Kangaroo Kids campus that has begun development in Hulhumale' Phase 2 is set to finish this year, with teaching to begin in January 2027.

Islanders Education, the company that manages both of the schools, announced this yesterday during the ground breaking ceremony for the campus. During the ceremony, the foundation was laid by Education Ministry State Minister Dr. Ahmed Mohamed, Housing Development Corporation (HDC) Managing Director Ali Zuhair, Lighthouse Learning Group CEO Prajodh Rajan and Islanders Education Chairman Abdul Rasheed.

During the ceremony, Islanders Education Executive Director Ahmed Adhly Rasheed stated that the aim of the company is to develop Maldives education industry and to continue their work in bringing about the necessary changes to the industry instead of opening many different schools.

He said that they have continued to work to provide quality, unique and inclusive learning to Maldives.

Billabong International High School and Kangaroo Kids campus in Hulhumale' is being developed by Islanders Education. Islanders Education and Lighthouse Education signed an operation handover agreement during the groundbreaking ceremony.

Lighthouse Learning Group CEO Prajodh Rajan spoke at the ceremony, stating that Huluhmale' will reach greater heights in the education industry with the establishment of the campus. He also said that the campus will become a place where students will gain the knowledge they seek, their performance will be assessed and work will be done to build successful children.

Education Ministry State Minister Dr. Ahmed Mohamed gave a speech as well, saying that the campus will become a place where new opportunities in student development will present itself. He also said that as many students travel far to Male', the campus will lessen the burden placed on the students.

He went on to say that participation from private companies such as Islanders Education in developing the education industry is important.

The campus being developed in Hulhumale' Phase 2 is set to begin teaching preschool programs in January 2027. Islanders Education also stated that they are considering conducting classes for Grade 1 and Grade 2 in 2027 at the campus, and that they will share details with parents in the near future.

According to Islanders Education, the decision has been made to introduce a new grade level every year, with details being available on the school's Viber community.
