Maldive Gas has increased the gas prices for businesses.

An official from the company stated that the price was adjusted according to prices that have been set for resorts, cafés and restaurants, with gas prices for households being unchanged.

The new changes state that a 45 kilogram gas canister has seen a price increase of 25 percent. A 22 kilogram gas canister has seen a price increase by 15 percent.

The highest price increase is for resorts, by 25 percent. Cafés and restaurants have seen a price increase of 15 percent.

With that, a 45 kilogram gas canister is now at MVR 1,314 and a 22 kilogram gas canister is now at MVR 500.

The official said that the price of gas was increased due to difficulties in acquiring gas because of the Middle East war and the subsequent increase in expenditure.
