Ooredoo CEO and Managing Director Shadi Qawasmi has stated that Ooredoo Maldives' aim is to bring services and opportunities available in other parts of the world to Maldivians.

While speaking at Barceló Nasandhura for the introduction of PayPal via Ooredoo M-Faisaa, Qawasmi said that the company has introduced important services and platforms for the connectivity of Maldivians over the past 20 years. He also said that the company is always working to provide the best service to everyone in Maldives.

The CEO went on to say that participating in and facilitating various opportunities in making Maldives a digital nation is a company responsibility. He also stated that the service that was launched today will empower Maldivians, Maldivian businesses and the youth, and is a service that will bring new opportunities. Qawasmi said that the company will continue to facilitate such international opportunities.

During the ceremony, Ooredoo Group's Regional CEO Ahmad Abdulaziz Al-Neama said that connectivity is a service that does not end with telecommunication, and that real connectivity is providing all digital services.

According to Al-Neama, PayPal will open up a new path in empowering businesses, and that it will also empower younger talented individuals.

During the ceremony, Vice President of PayPal South Asia Amir Valliani said that the service will open up many opportunities for businesses and freelancers. He also said that it is important for an island nation such as Maldives to have trustworthy digital services that allow for financial transactions.

PayPal is one of the largest online payment platforms in the world. And with the introduction of the service, Maldivian freelancers and SMEs will be able to acquire payments from other countries while being in Maldives. Ooredoo also highlighted that it is a very important bridge that has been built in the advancement of Maldives' digital and creative economy.
