Tourist arrivals in Maldives have increased by 2.6 percent in May 2026 compared to the same period last year.
As per statistics from the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, 122,000 tourists have come to Maldives in May as of yet. May 2025 saw 119,000 tourist arrivals.
Daily tourist arrivals to Maldives this month is 6,200 on average.
While tourist arrivals have increased this month, Maldives has experienced a 4 percent decline in tourist arrivals this year compared to last year. This decrease is due to the drop in European and Middle Eastern tourists who come to Maldives through Qatar and Dubai caused by the war in the Middle East.
Usually, there is a drop of tourists from Europe in May.
Maldives sees tourists arrivals mainly from India and Asian nations in May, with statistics showing that this can also be attributed to positive tourism in Maldives.
So far, 923,000 tourists have come to Maldives this year. In 2025, there were 965,000 tourist arrivals up until May.
April 2026 saw a 24 percent drop of tourist arrivals in Maldives, with May 2026 seeing a 21 percent drop.
Maldives currently sees the highest number of tourist arrivals from China, with more than 141,000 tourists have come to Maldives. Russia is the second highest with 121,000 tourists. The United Kingdom is the third highest with 79,000.
