The national airline Maldivian will operate special flights to Bangkok during the upcoming school midterm holidays, responding to increased demand from Maldivian families travelling to the destination.

Island Aviation, which operates the airline, said the flights will operate every Sunday from 12 July to 2 August, with flights scheduled on 12, 19 and 26 July, and 2 August.

The airline said the flights are timed to suit families travelling during the break, with departures from Male' at 11:00 am and return flights from Bangkok at 6:40 pm.

Passengers will be entitled to a 25 kg baggage allowance, while the airline has also introduced special fares.

Island Aviation said the initiative reflects Maldivian’s efforts to respond to seasonal travel demand.

Bangkok remains one of the most popular destinations for Maldivian travellers during school holidays, contributing to a surge in bookings during the period.

The airline has also recently expanded its international network, adding routes to Beijing and Chengdu in China.
