The National Hotels and Guesthouse Association of Maldives (NHGAM) has announced a significant expansion into the Southeast Asian travel market through the upcoming ‘I AM Maldives’ roadshow.

It is scheduled to visit Hong Kong on April 13th and Kuala Lumpur on April 15th, 2026. The mission is a collaborative effort with Visit Maldives and the Maldives Association of Travel Agents & Tour Operators (MATATO).

This strategic push aims to showcase the diverse range of Maldivian hospitality, from luxury resorts to local island guesthouses, to over 120 key travel trade professionals and decision-makers in both cities.

The delegation, consisting of 20 companies and more than 50 participants, arrives at a time of record-breaking growth for the region.

Greater China, including Hong Kong, secured its position as the Maldives' top source market in 2025 with over 706,000 arrivals, while Malaysia saw a remarkable 25.2 percent year-on-year increase in visitors.

Leaders from NHGAM and Visit Maldives emphasized that this roadshow is a "declaration of intent" to re-establish a strong presence in these high-potential markets and foster the partnerships necessary for the sustainable growth of local island tourism throughout 2026.
