State Trading Organization (STO) says another shipment of cooking gas will arrive in the Maldives on Friday.
The shipment will be received by Maldive Gas, a subsidiary of STO.
An STO official told Mihaaru News that the additional shipment is being brought in despite the current limit on gas sales introduced due to rising demand.
Global fuel and gas prices have increased following the conflict in the Middle East and attacks involving the United States, Israel and Iran.
Due to the sharp rise in demand, gas is currently being sold in five-kilogram cylinders instead of the usual 10-kilogram bottles this week.
Last month, STO also sold seven-kilogram cylinders at discounted prices instead of the standard 10-kilogram bottles. A new shipment of 10-kilogram cylinders was brought into the country before the start of Ramadan.
STO said it is working closely with other fuel importers to ensure a stable supply of fuel to the Maldives and confirmed that fuel storage levels in the country remain adequate.
The company also said additional shipments are expected to arrive on the 20th and 23rd of this month.
