Villa College opens May intake with over 100 courses

Villa College has opened the opportunity to participate in courses for the upcoming May intake.

More than 100 courses, ranging from foundation level to Master’s degrees, are now open for enrollment in this intake. To participate, forms can be submitted via the Villa College website until April 18.

A wide variety of courses useful for the job market are available to study at Villa College.

These include Information Technology, Computer Science, Teaching and Education, Shariah and Law, as well as Tourism and Hospitality courses, Business Management, Aviation Management, International Business, Economics, Accounting and Finance, Banking and Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, and Engineering. The courses taught at Villa College also include Research, Nursing, Psychology, Public Health, Interior Architecture and Design, Health Services Management, Project Management, Hospitality Management, Mass Communication, and Culinary Arts.

Notable among these are Villa College’s own programs, as well as programs from the University of the West of England (UK), Taylor’s University (Malaysia), and Cyberjaya University (Malaysia).

Villa College’s Engineering programs are validated and conducted by the University of Portsmouth in the UK. Under this validation, students who complete their first three years at Villa College and wish to study at the University of Portsmouth can participate in the final year of the degree at that university.

Education at Villa College is designed to make students ready for the work environment. To achieve this objective, opportunities for practical experience are facilitated in every program through simulations, internships, externships, and partnerships conducted in collaboration with the industry.

Villa College stated that this system gives special priority to ensuring that graduates of the college are prepared for the job market and are capable and skilled individuals who can compete on global platforms.

Villa College is a college that provides many additional services needed by students. The college provides students with academic writing and referencing support, English language tutorials, study skills workshops, dissertation support, peer-assisted learning, and mental health assistance through the V-Care Counseling and Psychotherapy Centre.

These are services the college provides both online and face-to-face.

Villa College stated that its courses are designed with the flexibility to allow for study while being employed. With the exception of Engineering, Teaching, Nursing, and Pharmacy courses, all other courses at the college can be studied online.

Villa College is the first and only educational center in the Maldives to be ranked in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings, one of the world's most trusted rankings. In that ranking, Villa College is included among the top 20 percent of universities globally.

Additionally, Villa College is the only institute in the Maldives rated for excellence in the QS Ratings. The college has been rated with five stars in three categories in the QS Star Ratings. Villa College stated that its primary focus is always to ensure the education it provides is of high quality and internationally recognized.

In this regard, the college stated that work is currently underway to make its Engineering programs accredited by the UK’s ‘Institution of Engineering and Technology’ (IET).

Furthermore, the college said that the work to obtain accreditation from the South Asian Quality Assurance System (SAQS) for the Villa College Qasim Ibrahim School of Business has been completed, and it is expected that this accreditation will be received within a short period of time.

The college noted that this would be a very significant advancement for Villa College within the Maldivian higher education sector. While Villa College is working to obtain international accreditations, the college has already achieved various notable international successes.

Villa College conducts programs that are recognized and accredited by important institutions such as the Maldives Qualifications Authority (MQA), the Bar Council of the Maldives, and the Allied Health Council.
