Swipe has been declared as the official wallet of Visit Maldives.

Bank of Maldives (BML) and Visit Maldives signed a strategic partnership agreement between Swipe and Visit Maldives in a ceremony held at the bank.

The agreement was signed by BML CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef and Visit Maldives CEO and Managing Director Ibrahim Shiuree.

The agreement designates Swipe as the primary payment platform for tourists, strengthening the Maldives' commitment to digital innovation and premium service.

Swipe is a multi-currency digital wallet, built in compliance with domestic regulatory frameworks and international payment industry standards, and is 100 percent Maldivian-developed, BML said.

Both local and international transactions can be made on Swipe, and can be funded through either BML accounts or any credit, debit or prepaid card.

Swipe facilitates instant person-to-person transfers, QR payments, personalized spending insights, shareable payment links, top-ups and withdrawals.

The agreement builds on the wider strategic partnership signed between BML and Visit Maldives last year. The bank said that the partnership reflects a shared commitment to accelerating digital transformation in the tourism sector, improving operational efficiency, and boosting the global competitiveness of the Maldivian travel industry.
