Over 400,000 tourist arrivals in 2026

As of today, Maldives has welcomed 441,000 tourists this year.

As of today, Maldives has welcomed 441,000 tourists this year. 

According to Tourism Ministry statistics, a daily average of 8,000 tourist arrivals are being recorded. The same period last year saw an average of 7,300 tourist arrivals per day. 

While tourist numbers exceed 400,000, visitors to Maldives for various reasons are recorded at 444,000. This includes 1,300 persons visiting for business reasons, and 1,000 persons arriving on cruise ships. 

February has seen 217,000 tourist arrivals, marking an year-on-year increase of about 40,000. 

In January, 227,000 tourist arrivals were recorded. 

Over 300,000 of tourists visiting Maldives spent their holidays in resorts, while about 100,000 stayed in guesthouses. Safaris also accommodated over 12,000 tourists. 

So far this year, China remains the strongest source market in tourist arrivals, with over 72,000 visitors. Second on the list is Russia, followed by Italy. 

Last year, Maldives welcomed 2.2 million tourists.
