Dollar revenue increases by 43 percent

As per statistics released by Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA), dollar revenue of USD 180 million was received last month, including taxes and fees.

The State's dollar revenue over the past month shows an increase of 43 percent. 

As per statistics released by Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA), dollar revenue of USD 180 million was received last month, including taxes and fees. The same period last year saw revenues of USD 126 million, marking an increase this year of USD 54 million. 

Last month, USD 143 million was paid in taxes. January last year recorded USD 113 million in taxes. This reflects an increase of USD 30 million. 

The highest dollar revenue in January was through TGST, at USD 80 million. Every year, the highest revenue is received through TGST. 

This January, there is a year-on-year increase of USD 10 million in TGST. 

The next highest revenue was through Income Tax, at USD 37 million. 

USD 18 million was received as acquisition cost, while USD 14 million was recorded as Green Tax, and USD 12 million as Airport Development Fee. 

Total revenue last month was at MVR 4.4 billion, marking an MVR 1 billion increase compared to January last year.
