Bank of Maldives (BML) was presented with a Special Recognition Award at last night's Maldives Sports Awards to honour their dedication towards championing sports development.
BML CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef accepted the award on behalf of the bank at the ceremony held last night at the Social Centre.
BML stated that each year, the bank collaborates with sports organizations to extend assistance in holding national level tournaments, and to develop athletes' skills.
This includes long-term partnerships with football, swimming, basketball, tennis and surfing associations, the bank said.
Since 2023, the bank has also been offering BML Sports Scholarships to athletes. As of now, eight athletes have been trained under this program, BML said.
BML has also entered an agreement with MBA to establish a basketball arena.
BML is also the official sponsor of the National Football Team since 2017.
