One of Maldives' tourism pioneers, renowned businessman 'Champa' Hussain Afeef has been elected today to the post of Chairperson at Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI).

Afeef was elected to the post in the 26th Annual General Meeting of MATI, held in Kurumba Maldives today. 

Afeef is a shareholder and Chairperson of leading tourism business Crown Company. To date, he was also serving as MATI's Vice-Chairperson. 

Since its inception, MATI's Chairperson has been the late Mohamed Umar Maniku (MU Maniku). MU Maniku passed away in August last year, leaving the post of Chairperson vacant till now. 

Established in 1982, MATI works to advance the tourism sector and foster opportunities for those in the industry. It is the Maldives' longest-serving tourism association.
