The 16th batch of the annual Dhiraagu Apprenticeship Program has officially graduated.
Dhiraagu held a special ceremony to present certificates to the 15 participants who completed the program conducted last year.
The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Ali Haidar Ahmed, as well as members of Dhiraagu’s board and management, and leaders from various educational institutions.
During the ceremony, Minister of Higher Education Dr. Ali Haidar stated that the Dhiraagu Apprenticeship Program has set an example in providing vocational training over the past 17 years. He further expressed his gratitude and acknowledged Dhiraagu’s efforts to develop and advance the skills and craftsmanship of Maldivian youth.
Dhiraagu’s CEO and Managing Director, Ismail Rasheed, welcomed both last year’s graduates and the new apprentices joining this year. He stated that the primary objective of the Dhiraagu Apprenticeship Program is to teach Maldivian youth work environment experience, skills, and work ethics.
Furthermore, he expressed hope that the apprentices would make good use of the experiences and lessons learned from this program to further develop their careers and achieve additional successes.
At the ceremony, the company also welcomed the 17th batch of the Dhiraagu Apprenticeship Program with 25 participants. This program, which offers a structured training program, soft skills development training, and the opportunity to work in Dhiraagu’s core business areas, provides numerous opportunities for apprentices.
Additionally, apprentices get the chance to work in Malé as well as in Dhiraagu regional operations centers located across the Maldives.
The Dhiraagu Apprenticeship Program is a significant CSR initiative conducted by the company to develop job skills for Maldivian youth. It is the first corporate apprenticeship program of its kind conducted in the Maldives.
Since its inception in 2009, the program has been held annually, and to date, 312 young people have participated in it.
Dhiraagu stated that its goal is to continue providing such opportunities to advance Maldivian youth in the future.
