Palestinian as Ooredoo CEO and Managing Director

Shadi Qawasmi from Palestine has been appointed the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Ooredoo Maldives. Qawasmi has more than 10 years of leadership experience in the telecommunication, strategy and brand management industry. He joined Ooredoo in 2015.

Shadi Qawasmi from Palestine has been appointed the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Ooredoo Maldives.

Qawasmi has more than 10 years of leadership experience in the telecommunication, strategy and brand management industry. He joined Ooredoo in 2015.

Qawasmi has held the Chief Commercial Officer and Sales Director position at Ooredoo Palestine, along with the Head of Brand and Communication. He also played an important role in driving market growth, introducing new technology and bringing modern changes to company operations. 

Before working at Ooredoo, Qawasmi had acquired experience in the Management Consulting, Business Development and Marketing Communication industries. He has created business strategies and given recommendations regarding changing to digital resources.

Qawasmi has acquired a Masters Degree in Marketing Management at France's EDHEC Business School and a Marketing Communications Bachelor's Degree from Brigham University in the United States of America.

Ooredoo published a press release regarding the appointment of a new MD and CEO, with former MD and CEO Khalid Al-Hamadi expressing his gratitude.

The company stated that under Khalid's leadership, modern digital resources such as the AI customer service assistant "Evee" were introduced. The company also highlighted the strengthening of relationships between major international companies such as Mastercard, TikTok, WhatsApp Business and Viber.

Ooredoo also said that along with that, 100 percent 4G+ coverage was provided to the entirety of Maldives, expanding 5G services to 80 percent of the population, establishment of the PEACE submarine cable, establishment of a Tier-3 quality Ooredoo Maldives data center and connecting Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi with a specialized cable is just some of the work that has been accomplished under Khalid's leadership.

As per the company's statement, a Guinness World Record was also achieved under Khalid's leadership, where the world's largest underwater panel discussion was held in Maldives, along with accomplishments such as the opening of the Ooredoo Office in Hulhumale'.

Ooredoo also highlighted a few other accomplishments from Khalid, such as providing aid towards the health sector and providing air ambulance services under Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.

Ooredoo said that they will work to provide even better and more well-rounded services under Qawasmi's leadership.
