HDC orders to stop fibre work in Hulhumale' lagoon

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has ordered fibre work in the Hulhumale' lagoon to be stopped by Sunday.

In a statement issued last night, HDC said it had observed fibre work being carried out on boats moored in the lagoon.

The corporation said the activity had been banned due to its potential adverse impact on the environment and on those using the lagoon.

Those carrying out the work have been instructed to stop the activity or relocate it to a designated area by midnight on Sunday.

“If these activities are not stopped before the deadline, the corporation will work with the Marine Police and other relevant authorities to stop them,” the statement said.
