Crown and Champa Resorts (CCR) has officially begun paying salaries in US dollars to all employees across its extensive portfolio of resorts.

As the largest Maldivian-owned hospitality group, the company is co-owned by two of the Maldives' tourism pioneers, Mohamed Moosa (Uchchu) and Hussain Afeef, who also serves as the Chairman.

The group currently employs over 3,000 staff members.

Previously, the company paid salaries in Maldivian Rufiyaa. This transition follows the Foreign Currency Act enacted last year, which grants companies generating income in foreign currency the flexibility to pay their staff in US dollars.

The company stated that the decision was made to provide the best possible financial benefits to its employees within the current legal and regulatory framework.

Crown and Champa Resorts operates 11 properties in the Maldives, including Kudadhoo Maldives Private Island, Hurawalhi, Kagi Maldives Resort & Spa, Veligandu Maldives Resort Island, Nala Maldives, Jawakara Islands Maldives, Meeru Maldives Resort Island, Komandoo Island Resort & Spa, Vilamendhoo Island Resort & Spa, and Kuredu Island Resort & Spa.
