"Inclusive Sports" program from Dhiraagu, Special Olympics

The program will take place at GDh. Thinadhoo over the course of six months. Dhiraagu said that there will be weekly training for 60 athletes under the "Special Olympics Fit 5" curriculum.

A special program has been announced by Dhiraagu and Special Olympics Maldives where various sports activities will be held in various regions across Maldives.

The program is designed to empower special needs children and youth in the sports medium and to offer equal opportunity to such individuals in various activities within the community.

The program will take place at GDh. Thinadhoo over the course of six months. Dhiraagu said that there will be weekly training for 60 athletes under the "Special Olympics Fit 5" curriculum.

Dhiraagu said the main purpose of this program is to raise awareness in physical health, the importance of healthy food, empower sports skills and familial health as well. The program will also train Thinadhoo coaches and volunteers in order to sustainably maintain the program.

Special Olympics International is an association that works at an international level to empower people to build physical health through sports activities. The agency that conducts such activities in Maldives is Special Olympics Maldives.

Special Olympics Maldives Chairperson Ibrahim Rameez stated that the Dhiraagu Special Sports Festival will play an important role in including everyone in sports and establishing equality. He also said that due to such festivals, athletes who have already built a foundation for themselves are already representing Maldives and winning gold on international soil.

"The program that is set to take place at GDh. Thinadhoo by Special Olympics Maldives with the help of Dhiraagu will build an inclusive community and will bring the community closer together. It will also encourage such work and benefit many people," said Ibrahim Rameez.

Dhiraagu's Director, Brand & Marketing Communications Mohamed Mirshan Hassan stated that this program, which is being prioritized by the company in order to build equality in the sports sphere, is meant to symbolize their priority in providing equal opportunity for every child in their growth and in maintaining good physical health.

"Our aim is to work together with Special Olympics Maldives and fully cooperate for such programs that will be sustainable and includes everyone from the community," said Mirshan.

The Dhiraagu Special Sports Festival is an important activity that is being conducted by Dhiraagu with Special Olympics Maldives in order to empower people with special needs. The program has been held in Male' for the last eight years.
