Maldivian Airlines has announced the launch of seaplane services to Alifu Alifu Atoll Thoddoo.

Island Aviation, which operates Maldivian Airlines, said the seaplane flights to the popular tourist destination will begin on the 12th of next month.

The airline noted that demand for travel to Thoddoo has been increasing, particularly with the growth of local tourism.

With the introduction of seaplane services, tourists travelling to the island will have faster and more convenient access, the airline said.

Flights will operate twice a week, on Thursdays and Saturdays.

Each flight will cost MVR 799.

Maldivian Airlines previously launched seaplane services to Baa Atoll Kamadhoo in September last year.

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has also announced plans to expand seaplane connectivity to other islands with active local tourism. In addition to Thoddoo, seaplane services are planned for Alifu Alifu Atoll Ukulhas and Noonu Atoll Velidhoo.
