Last December saw the most number of tourists in one month in the history of Maldivian tourism.
As per the Tourism Ministry's statistics, 224,000 tourists came to Maldives last month. Before this, February 2024 saw the highest number of tourists in months, with 217,000 tourists. Last December saw a three percent increase from that number.
The highest number of tourists in December was on the 29th, with 9,900 tourists. However, the highest number of tourists on a given day was on 24th February 2024, with it being 11,000.
In 2024, January, February and March saw more than 200,000 tourists each month come to Maldives.
May 2024 saw the lowest number of tourists, with it being 135,000.
Last year's daily average saw 6,100 tourists come to Maldives. This is a 10 percent increase from the year before that.
2.2 million tourists came to Maldives by the end of 2025. This is 100,000 less than the first estimate that was made last year.
Even though there were less tourists by the end of the year, the revenue that was brought in by the industry had increased. The Tourism Ministry estimates that there would be USD 5.6 billion as a tourism receipt by the end of the year, which is a 16 percent increase.
