Something that tends to happen when something at home breaks or there is work that needs to be done is we experience difficulties in finding someone who can do that work in a proficient manner. Even though there are skilled Maldivians in many creative fields, it can be difficult to reach them. There are many capable Maldivians, from maintenance work to accounting, the tax system and administrative duties. But the issue lies in finding them.
A Maldivian has taken the initiative to build a platform where said people can be found. The platform named Taskin, which was inaugurated yesterday, connects service providers to people seeking different services.
Taskin CEO and Founder Dheema Fakir stated that the app will present opportunities to capable youth and workers.
"There are very capable young people. However, there are youth who have not gotten the opportunity to work at all and are unemployed. The purpose is to open doors for them where they can do their own work," said Dheema.

As per Dheema, as there has been no option to find skilled Maldivians familiar in such lines of work, the app will allow people to find Maldivians who can also do work assigned to expatriates. Dheema also said that people can also find Maldivians who can do common household work and that this will provide the opportunity to bring sectors dominated by expatriates back into the hands of Maldivians.
More than 1,000 Maldivians have registered onto the app just last month. These are all locals who are skilled workers in such fields. Dheema stated that the app includes people who can provide household services, office work, and those who are in various technical and creative fields as well.
"In just one month, it has been made clear to us how much such a platform is needed for Maldives. More than 1,000 workers registered to the platform even during the app's preregistration phase. People in common fields are in the app," said Dheema.
Taskin was introduced to the entirety of Maldives. With the app, many workers across various islands have registered as "Taskers" or service providers.
In order to make the platform a safe app for service providers and customers, Taskin's team takes the extra step in verifying Taskers. Customers will also have to register to the app using their mobile numbers.
Taskin founder Dheema said that she views the app as a promising path to the youth who want to increase their revenue.

As per Dheema, with people wanting to do their own work on their own time which was brought about as a change post Covid-19, the app will aid people in doing such work in a stable manner. She also said that those who already have a job will now have the opportunity to increase their revenue by working on their own time at home.
"Taskin is a new path which can allow people to increase their earnings," said Dheema.
Taskers and customers can designate and negotiate service pricing via Taskin. Customers can post any special work they want done with a working timeline and price, with Taskers being able to bid on the work. Customers will then be given the opportunity to choose the best offer.
A launch event was held at Hulhumale' yesterday in order to share information regarding the Taskin app.

There was a pickup rally that began at Central Park, with it going through Hulhumale' Phase 1 and Phase 2 as well, ending at Central Park. The rally shared various information to the public regarding the app. A photo contest was also held via the app's social media page, with winners having been handed prizes.
The Taskin app is now available on the Apple Store and Google Play Store for downloading and registration.
