New Year celebrations will begin today with a series of public events scheduled over three days, Visit Maldives has said.
The festivities will open with the Maldives Culture and Food Festival, starting with a dedicated children’s evening this afternoon, as part of activities marking the arrival of 2026.
Today’s children’s evening will be held at Hulhumale' Central Park from 4 pm to 6 pm, featuring a range of activities for children. A gaming arcade and a police information stall will also be set up at the venue.
Tomorrow night, food and goods stalls will be opened to the public, alongside a live music show. Performances will feature bands including Symbolic Records and 2 of Us.
Wednesday evening will also feature a children's evening, while the main New Year’s show will include drone displays and fireworks.
Visit Maldives said the celebrations will conclude on Thursday with another children’s evening, accompanied by food stalls.
