The government has announced plans to appoint an international consultant to support spatial planning for national development, as part of efforts to formulate Maldives 20 year National Development Plan.
The Ministry of Finance said it is seeking a foreign party to provide technical assistance in developing the plan, which will guide economic, social and infrastructural development over the next two decades.
A local company is already working on the plan, but international expertise is being sought to ensure it meets global standards and to support the local team on spatial planning, including land use and building development.
Interested parties have been invited to submit proposals by 6 January.
Public consultations on the development master plan for the next 20 years began late last year, with the government placing special emphasis on gathering views from island communities.
The National Development Plan aims to position Maldives as a developed country by 2040, with wide-ranging reforms expected across the economy, society and infrastructure.
