The Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has said that their revenue last month reached MVR 2.2 billion.

As per MIRA's monthly report they released last night, last month's revenue is a 16.6 percent increase compared to the same time last year. The report also states that it is a 6.7 percent increase from their estimates.

Some of the reasons for the revenue increase compared to November 2024 are GST in the tourism industry, green tax, and the revenue increase from airport tax. MIRA highlighted the increase in tourism revenue as being due to a 10.3 percent increase in tourists when comparing October 2024 to October 2025.

MIRA also stated that the hike in the green tax rate, airport tax and fee rates are the reason why revenue in October 2025 is higher than October 2024.

As per MIRA, the MVR 1.3 billion in GST from tourism is the largest contributor to November's revenue. Behind that is green tax, with MVR 191.06 million, with airport development fees at MVR 175.87 million and departure tax following behind at MVR 164.99 million.

Revenue tax saw MVR 131.67 million, with work permit fees at MVR 63.86 million for October, as was collected by MIRA.

As per MIRA's report, revenue collected by MIRA for November includes USD 103.23 million.
