World-famous TGI Fridays to open in Male'

TGI Fridays, the American restaurant chain, is set to open a branch in Male' after its operator, Sugarloaf TGIF, signed a franchise agreement with Maldives’ Brew and Feast Holdings.

Brew and Feast Holdings has already brought several international food brands to the Maldives, including Chicking, Gloria Jean’s, Moti Mahal and Bakers Basket.

The company’s chairman, Mohamed Anwar, said TGI Fridays would “take the international dining experience to another level” in the country.

Under the agreement, the first outlets will open in the Greater Malé area, with plans to expand the brand to resorts.

TGI Fridays operates around 380 outlets in 35 countries, and has recently stepped up its push into international markets. In the past two months, it has announced plans for more than 100 new outlets in Uzbekistan, Japan, Peru, India and Mexico.
