"Nala Maldives by Jawakara," the third resort in the resort chain
operated by Crown & Champa Resorts in the famous lagoon known as
"Jawakara" in Lh. Atoll, was officially opened today.
The Nala Maldives resort was inaugurated by the Minister
of Tourism, Thoriq Ibrahim, and the Chairman of Champa Group, Mohamed Moosa
(Uchchu).
At the ceremony, Minister Thoriq highlighted that Crown
& Champa Resorts is one of the strongest and most innovative companies in
the Maldives.
"I commend your efforts to advance the
industry, the high standards you establish due to your strong interest in the
industry, and your initiatives to find new ways and innovations," the
Minister stated.
Mohamed Solah, CEO of Crown & Champa Resorts, stated
that Nala Maldives, featuring 80 villas including overwater villas, is an entry-level
luxury five-star resort. He added that tourists visiting this resort will also
have the opportunity to experience the two other resorts within the Jawakara
chain: Mabin and Dheru.
"We believe this approach [a resort chain
incorporating multiple islands] is the best way forward for the Maldives,"
he said.
Solah mentioned that Nala generates 1.8 megawatts of its
required electricity through solar energy. He further stated that all
operations at the resort will be conducted sustainably.
"This is to ensure that tourists who visit,
expecting sustainable tourism, are not disappointed," Solah added.
Jawakara refers to the area that encompasses the entire
eastern side of Lh. Atoll as a single large lagoon. The inhabited island of
Olhuvelifushi is also situated in this lagoon.
With the opening of Nala Maldives today, the total
number of resorts operated by Crown & Champa Resorts in the Maldives has
reached 11.
CEO Solah noted that two of these 11 resorts are
Forbes Certified Five-Star Resorts. He proudly added that Crown & Champa
Resorts is currently the only operator in the Maldives running a Forbes
Certified Five-Star Resort.
