Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) Research Conference 2025 began on today at Villa Nautica Paradise Island Resort, marking the largest turnout in the event’s history.
The forum, which runs until tomorrow, is attended by 240 participants.
This year’s conference featured the launch of MMA’s new economic and financial magazine, The Island Economist, unveiled by the Chief Guest, Education Minister Dr Ismail Shafeeu.
In addition, MMA’s research journal, Maldives Journal of Economics and Finance, was launched by Dr Aishath Muniza, Professor and Associate Dean at INSIEF University, Malaysia.
The conference also included the presentation of awards and cash prizes to the finalists of the Tamweel Finlit Festival 2025.
Scholarly engagement at the conference has grown significantly, with 40 research paper presentations, including contributions from more than 20 international researchers. MMA received 39 submissions for research funding and 20 articles for The Island Economist.
The MMA Research Conference has been held annually since 2024, and this is the second edition of the event.
