Maldives Islamic Bank partners with Crossroads for coral restoration

Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB) has launched a coral revival initiative in partnership with Crossroads Maldives.

The agreement was signed in an underwater ceremony at the lagoon where the corals will be planted.

MIB CEO Mufaddal Idris Khumri signed on behalf of the bank, while Alexander Traeger, General Manager at SAii Lagoon Maldives, Curio Collection by Hilton and Crossroads Maldives, represented Crossroads.

MIB said the underwater ceremony aimed to raise awareness of the importance of the Maldives’ environment and coral reefs.

As part of the initiative, a dedicated area in the Crossroads lagoon, named “MIB Faru”, will be developed for coral planting.
