Bank of Maldives (BML) has increased foreign spending limit for debit card users to USD 1,000 per month for POS transactions abroad, effective November 11.

In addition to this, the foreign spend limit for medical and travel purposes has been increased to USD 3000 per month.

The bank said that the changes apply to all customers effective tomorrow, with no need to fill out any further applications.

The initiative, alongside the changes to merchant fees, highlight the bank's commitment to supporting Maldivians across sectors as BML celebrates its 43rd anniversary, the bank said.

The foreign transaction limit on BML Debit cards was raised from USD 250 to USD 500 per month in July.

From February next year, BML will also be increasing the foreign transaction limit on BML Classic credit cards from USD 750 to USD 1400, and Gold cards from USD 750 to USD 1500, and Platinum cards from USD 750 to USD 2000.
