Riyaz dismissed from MACL board, increased to nine members

An official from the Privatization and Corporatization Board stated today that Mohamed Riyaz (Let's Go Riyaz) was dismissed from the Velana International Airport Board of Directors last Saturday. There are currently six board members remaining.

In order to bolster the board along with committees such as Audit and Risk, MACL has increased its number of board members from seven to nine. Sources say that a member will be appointed to the board very soon.

MACL board members currently include Chairperson Aisha Noorain Janah, Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed, Saha Waheed, Ibrahim Siyadh Gasim and Ibrahim Mahudhee.

As MACL's Board of Directors underwent some changes, the government has awarded many projects to the company.

MACL created a subsidiary this month in order to move forward with land reclamation and urban projects. The name of the company is Peninsula Infrastructure Pvt Ltd, and is fully owned by MACL.
