Maldives Ports Limited (MPL), in collaboration with Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Coast Guard Training School, has conducted a 'Certificate Level 1 in Port Security Training' programme, and awarded certificates to successful participants.
The 30 day training course was run with 30 participants and was held in Girifushi, MPL said. The participants included security staff from MPL's Security Department and the two regional ports in Kulhudhuffushi and Hithadhoo.

The closing ceremony for the training was held in Bandaara Koshi yesterday, where MPL CEO Mohamed Rilwan presented certificates to successful participants.
The main objective of the course is to strengthen security at the ports to international standards, and to increase skill and competence of security personnel.
The course covered emergency response, security drills, work ethics and practical application, ISPS code compliance, port security and protection, maritime safety and security sessions.
As the final training in the course, a security drill was held at the Male' Commercial Harbour on Saturday.
