Maldives sets world record for most people snorkeling simultaneously

The Baani Event organized by the Baa Atoll Council and Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC) saw Maldives set a Guinness World Record for the most people snorkeling at the same time.

The Baani Event organized by the Baa Atoll Council and Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC) saw Maldives set a Guinness World Record for the most people snorkeling at the same time.

The VMC has said that a total of 623 people participated in snorkeling at the Baa Atoll Villingilifaru Finolhu area.

A representative from the Guinness World Records awarded Maldives a plaque for accomplishing the feat during the ceremony after the Baani Event.

Along with this record set to go on the Guinness World Record book, VMS has also set aside space to put this record on the Maldives Book of Records. VMC Managing Director and CEO Ibrahim Shiuree presented the plaque and coin to the Baa Atoll Council.

13 islands and 15 resorts had participated in the Baani Event. Resort employees, tourists and residents from Baa Atoll islands took part in the event.

The VMC had stated that the Villingilifaru Finolhu, just 10 minutes from Eydhafushi, is home to Black-naped Terns, with the event showcasing the colorful coral reefs, its rich marine life and the nation's beauty as a whole.

As per VMC, the aim of the event was to revive and maintain unity, with one of their core aims being maintaining and strengthening Maldives as one of the top marine tourist destinations.
