Tourism Minister Thoriq Ibrahim stated
today that the role of resort General Managers and Resort Managers is highly
crucial in bringing the Maldives' tourism industry to its current standing.
Speaking at the GM Forum held at
Kurumba Maldives, he noted that resort services operate 24 hours a day and
managers undertake important work to ensure these services are delivered
seamlessly. The Minister also stressed the need to closely monitor global
changes and leverage them to further enhance tourism in the future.
Thoriq stated that the services
offered by resorts can be further expanded by utilizing modern resources and
the latest technology.
According to the Minister, the
government is always keen to collaborate with senior figures in the tourism
sector and implement reforms based on their ideas and consultations. He assured
that the government will continue to work with industry stakeholders to elevate
tourism to a new level.
Thoriq mentioned that while the
tourism sector is working to bring the most modern amenities and advance the
industry, the government has launched a special project to digitalize the
entire Maldives. He stated that the project, named "Maldives 2.0,"
aims to facilitate access to services using modern resources for all parties
working in every sector.
