India's biggest airline IndiGo has decided to begin direct flights between Maldives and Trivandrum.
In reference to the airline, Indian newspapers have said that the flights will begin from 26th November onward. IndiGo currently offers direct flights to three cities in India from Maldives, with them being Bangalore, Mumbai and Cochin.
Head of Global Sales Vinay Malhotra has said that with the start of scheduled flights from Trivandrum to Male', it will further increase their flights to Maldives. This will see 26 weekly flights, said Malhotra. He also stated that the amount of tourists will increase when the Trivandrum flights begin.
IndiGo utilizes ATR Airline planes for their flights from Trivandrum to Velana International Airport (VIA). The plane has a seat occupancy of 78.
IndiGo is India's biggest airline. The airline has 400 planes with 2,200 daily flights to 90 cities. This includes 40 international destinations.
VIA's new terminal saw IndiGo's services open yesterday, making IndiGo the first Indian airline to begin operations in the new terminal.
