Dhiraagu has signed an agreement with Maldives National University (MNU) to organize an E-waste Hackathon.
The hackathon aims to create awareness among youth about addressing the issues related to electronic waste in the Maldives.
Scheduled to start on September 28th, the hackathon will continue until October 7th, bringing together students, innovative young minds, and individuals who work tirelessly to protect the environment, under one roof, to discuss ways to reduce e-waste.
The target audience for this event includes senior-grade school students, as well as college and university students.
E-waste is the term to describe damaged electronic goods. This includes damaged or discarded computers, phones, TVs, fridges, batteries, and other electronic items. E-waste is one of the fastest and newest forms of waste, which poses significant environmental challenges. The e-waste hackathon aims to highlight this issue, creating awareness, inspiring youth, and innovative minds to find a creative way to tackle this problem.
The event is themed “Innovate for a Circular Economy: Tackling the E-Waste Crisis” and will focus on how e-waste can be repurposed into new materials and how sustainable disposal practices can be adopted. Throughout the hackathon, participants will take part in workshops led by industry experts who will guide them in developing viable solutions.
The suggestions will be submitted to a panel of judges before visiting waste management and recycling facilities.
Interested parties are welcome to register for the hackathon until Thursday.
