Ooredoo Maldives has rolled out the latest edition of its interactive calendar, this month unlocking a chat experience with Rannamaari, one of the most famous characters from Maldivian folklore.
This year’s Ooredoo calendar blends tradition with technology, featuring AI-enabled folklore characters that users can chat with by scanning a QR code or tapping their phones via NFC.
A new character is introduced each month, each illustrated and designed to reflect its cultural significance.
Ooredoo said the initiative aims to revive and celebrate Maldivian heritage in innovative ways, giving people the chance to explore folklore through AI conversations. The chat function reveals each character’s traits and resets every 24 hours, offering fresh answers and evolving interactions with repeated use.
The 2025 calendar includes a total of 12 iconic figures from Maldivian stories, such as Foolhu Dhigu Handi, Safarukaiydha, and Maakumbe. By the end of the year, users will be able to chat with all 12 characters they have unlocked.
Ooredoo noted that the calendar is designed not only as a creative collectible but also as a learning tool to engage with Maldivian culture in a modern, interactive format.
