Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa, in collaboration with the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), organized a community clean drive in Hulhumale' on September 8, 2025.
Starting at 6:45 am, more than 20 associates from the resort volunteered their time to collect litter around the Hulhumale' Ferry Terminal Lakudi Jetty and Central Park.
The team successfully removed 1.5 tons of garbage, helping to revitalize one of the capital’s busiest public areas.
The initiative forms part of Sheraton Maldives’ CSR program and reflects its Green Globe Certification (2024–2025), a globally recognized benchmark for sustainable tourism.
For HDC, the clean drive aligns with its mission to promote sustainable urban development in Hulhumale', reinforcing the value of public-private partnerships in safeguarding the Maldives’ natural and urban environments.
“At Sheraton Maldives, we believe that sustainability is best achieved through collaboration,” said Greg Allan, General Manager of Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa.
“This clean drive not only supports our environmental commitments as a Green Globe-certified resort but also inspires our associates and the wider community to work together toward a cleaner, greener future.”
This initiative builds on the resort’s long-term environmental strategy, which includes waste reduction programs, energy-efficient solutions, coral conservation projects, and renewable practices.
By partnering with local organizations and empowering associates, Sheraton Maldives continues to strengthen its role as a sustainability leader in Maldives.
