119 years of service for Maldives Post

Maldives Post has now been operating for 119 years.

Even though Maldives Post marked 119 years of service, the company has been serving Maldives for a much longer period of time.

9th September 1906 marked the first day of Maldives' postal service with the Maldives on a Sri Lankan stamp. Maldives' own stamps were prepared and put to use from 1909 onwards. The stamp had the Friday Mosque Minaret along with an Arabic phrase designed onto it. The stamp symbolizes history and culture, along with the beginning of philatelic creations.

Maldives became a member of the Universal Postal Union in 1967. Maldives Post is also an EMS Cooperative member, along with being designated operator in Maldives for international postal systems services.
