In a statement released by MACL, they said that the UK government has gifted them with first aid equipment in a special ceremony earlier today.

Acting British High Commissioner Mohamed Toafiq Wahab said that it is of utmost importance to the UK that the health and safety of the hundreds of British tourists that travel to Maldives are secured.

"MACL frontliners will be able to offer immediate help to those in need with these resources and the training that will follow. This further symbolizes the bond we share with MACL," said the Acting British High Commissioner.

He also pointed out the initiative MACL has taken for the betterment of emergency procedures.

MACL CEO and MD Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed has expressed gratitude toward the gifted items and the efforts the British High Commission go through to reinforce the bond they have between each other, along with their assistance and cooperation.

Shareef went on to say that due to the MACL being the main player in the country's economy, there are efforts being made to come up with and implement ironclad principles pertaining to first aid in accordance with international standards within the company. He went on to say that ensuring all their employees are capable of administering first aid in such a situation is one of their top priorities.

MACL stated that one of the main reasons the British High Commission gifted them first aid equipment, which will ensure that locals and MACL employees are ready for such a situation, is due to the fact that the UK government currently has a program named the Protective Security and Attack Response Program (PSARP) underway.

MACL went on to say that the program was a result of the meetings conducted in May between the British High Commission and the UK government to strengthen the security of surrounding nations, along with the handover of the first aid equipment.
