Dhiraagu's largest running event in the Maldives, the Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race has begun its registration process.
The event was announced during today's press conference at the Dhiraagu Head Office by Director, Brand and Marketing Communications Mohamed Mirshan Hassan, where he stated that a lot of interest has been expressed about the run, and to secure your slot as fast as possible.
4,000 slots will be available for registering with the event locked in for 24th October.
To change things up from last year's run, a new route has also been decided upon as per their announcement.
Mirshan stated that the route is the best for this year's run, after having taken into account at the current traffic flow, and that the new route, too, is certified within international standards.
Mirshan said there will be a four-member corporate teams category for offices and resorts this year. The category, which was newly introduced last year, is expected to receive a warm response this year as well.
The half marathon for the run is set to start at 2:30am. The 10k run will commence at 5:30am, along with the 5k run starting at 4:30pm.
Dhiraagu Manager, Brand Naiya Shareef said the half marathon will be held past midnight as some runners have been asking for the opportunity to participate in the 5k as well, with a MVR 280,000 prize pool being allocated for the event. The best male and female runners will be picked from each category.

2nd Place prize: MVR 15,000
3rd Place prize: MVR 10,000

1st Place prize: MVR 10,000
2nd Place prize: MVR 8,000
3rd Place prize: MVR 6,000
- School Categories: Under-13 and Over-13
1st Place prize: MVR 5,000 voucher
2nd Place prize: MVR 3,000 voucher
3rd Place prize: MVR voucher

Champion Team: MVR 10,000
Runner-up: MVR 8,000
Second Runner-up: MVR 6,000
This year, the Dhiraagu Road Race will be held under the slogan of Protecting Children's Rights. Thirteen associations are participating in the race this year. The five associations that receive the most nominations will be awarded MVR 200,000. In addition, each registration will be charged MVR 100, along with a payment for special bibs. When registering, runners can also nominate the NGO they want, leading to the top five NGO's winning the aforementioned MVR 200,000.
The Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race is the first and only international race in Maldives. It is also listed on the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) World Running Calendar along with being a World Athletics Certified race route.
