Ooredoo Maldives, in partnership with the Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources, has announced the return of its much-anticipated annua Ooredool Mas Race, set to take place in two islands this year.

The 2025 edition of the race will be held on 22 August in K. Huraa and 29 August in Sh. Funadhoo, with registration open until 30 July.

Teams comprising 12 members—including captains and officials—can register to compete. The event will crown first, second, and third place winners in each island, with MVR 25,000 awarded to the winning team, MVR 10,000 to the runner-up, and MVR 5,000 to the third-place team. In addition, special recognition will be given to the Best Male and Female Fisher in each race.

A maximum of 16 teams per island will be selected. If registrations exceed this number, a draw will be held to determine participating teams. Those not selected will receive a full refund of the registration fee.

Widely celebrated as a community favorite, the Ooredoo Mas Race is more than a competition—it's a cultural celebration that brings people together and honors the rich fishing heritage of the Maldives, Ooredoo said.
