International transfers and Telegraphic Transfers (TT) via businesses are set to receive 30% in Dollar support.

BML states that this is to offset the amount of black market transactions made to convert MVR to USD.

BML has issued specific amounts in dollars for TT transactions of major businesses. With the new change, SMEs will also receive 30% in Dollar support when they make TT transactions.

Prior to this change, TT transactions made by such businesses were only receiving 5 to 10% in Dollar support.

The option to conduct a TT transaction is available via BML Internet Banking. Many foreign companies also make use of TT transactions when conducting business.

As the TT transactions changes come into effect, BML's debit card limits will see an increase from USD 250 to USD 500 on 1st July 2025.
