FIBA Under-16 Asia Cup South Asia Qualifiers kicks off today

FIBA Under-16 Asia Cup South Asia Qualifiers and FIBA Under-16 Women’s Asia Cup Qualifiers, powered by Dhiraagu will kick off today.

Held at the Social Centre’s indoor court, the tournament runs until Monday and features four countries including Maldives, India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

This marks the first time Maldives has hosted an international basketball tournament for the under-16 age category an achievement hailed by the Maldives Basketball Association (MBA) as a significant milestone in the country’s sporting history.

The tournament is seen as a major step forward for the development of youth sports in Maldives, with MBA expressing pride in the country’s growing presence in the international basketball scene.

In today’s fixtures, Maldivian women’s national team will face Bangladesh at 5:30 pm, while the men’s team will take on Sri Lanka at 8:00pm.
