Former Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) Managing Director Ibrahim Athif Shakoor has been appointed as Strategic Consultant to the company, effective 1 June.
In his new role, Athif will advise the management on strategic reforms and organizational development.
He previously held several senior roles at MIFCO between 2004 and 2013, including sales and marketing manager, deputy CEO and CEO.
Athif studies Maldivian economic issues and has written extensively on the topic.
He was among the applicants for the CEO post last year, although PCB later withdrew the vacancy, citing a lack of eligible candidates.
The current MIFCO CEO, Farhath Shaheer, was appointed in March and is the third person to hold the position since the new administration took office. His predecessors include Swiss national Dr Vitaly Lubimov and Samah Rasheed.
