Dhiraagu, in collaboration with Clean Maldives, has successfully held the "Dhiraagu Go Green 2025" initiative in Haa Alif Dhidhdhoo.

The three-day event aimed to raise community awareness and participation in environmental conservation efforts, with a particular focus on sustainability and long-term environmental benefits.

The event was organized with the support of the Dhidhdhoo Council, Dhidhdhoo Kurimagu Jamiyyaa, local NGOs, school students, and numerous members of the public.

One of the highlights of the initiative was a large-scale tree planting program, under which 2,000 trees were planted across different areas of the island. These included fruit-bearing trees such as mango, pear, and rose apple, as well as various shade trees.

Dhiraagu contributed 1,000 of the trees donated during the program.

In addition to planting trees, fruit trees were also distributed to individual households in Dhidhdhoo as part of the campaign. A series of awareness sessions were held for school children and the public, focusing on waste management, recycling, and the environmental benefits of tree planting. The program also featured a panel discussion on reducing single-use plastics, with the participation of Dhidhdhoo Council and Dhidhdhoo Kurimagu NGO, alongside a sustainability-themed drawing competition for children and youth.

Eco-friendly prizes and reusable bags were distributed to encourage environmentally responsible habits.

Speaking at the event, Dhiraagu’s Senior Manager of Corporate Social Responsibility, Bishaara Hameed, said that the initiative supports the national campaign to plant five million trees. She said that the Go Green program is a part of Dhiraagu’s broader commitment to promoting sustainable practices and protecting the environment.

Clean Maldives Founder and President Hafsath Haleem said that sustainability is a promise to future generations. She expressed hope that the work done under the Go Green initiative would lead to a greener and healthier Maldives.

Dhiraagu continues to play an active role in environmental conservation, participating in various eco-focused projects and community initiatives.
