More than 250 individuals and organizations were honoured at the Maldives Expo 2025 awards ceremony, held at Social Centre.

More than 250 individuals and organizations were honoured at the Maldives Expo 2025 awards ceremony, held at Social Centre.

A total of 275 awards were given, recognizing excellence across 14 categories and 82 sub-categories, in an event that highlighted the country’s creative and economic sectors.

The expo saw a strong turnout, with 383 participants submitting over 3,600 entries.

The exhibition, which opened to the public on May 23 at Central Park, Hulhumale', was initiated by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu following a Cabinet decision on May 19, 2024.

It aims to boost productivity and open up new economic opportunities across Maldives.

President Muizzu presented awards to several category leaders, including the Golden Prize, awarded to the five top-scoring exhibits overall.

Category First Prize Winners:

- Individual: Lujain Ali Waheed

- Island: GA. Villingili Council

- City: Addu City Council

- Business: Cidee’s Kitchen Pvt Ltd

- Education Centre: Maldives Polytechnic

- People with Disabilities: Fathimath Shafagath

- NGO: Women Entrepreneurs Association Maldives (WEAM)

- City/Island Participation: Addu City, Hithadhoo

- State-Owned Enterprise: STELCO

Speaking at the ceremony, Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed said that the exhibition gives space to the youth and the creative economy, something that has been long overdue.

Minister Saeed noted that the expo features a dedicated digital district and a "Market Space" to help promote Maldivian products both locally and abroad.

The expo runs until May 31 and is expected to attract large numbers of visitors.
