K. Himmafushi Council has announced that they are issuing a land plot from the island's football stadium area to build a guest house or city hotel with 200 rooms.

An announcement released by the Himmafushi Council today revealed that a land plot from the island's football stadium area has been allocated for the operation of a guest house. The land, measuring 52,107 square feet, has been leased for a period of 50 years.
The announcement states that individuals interested in building and operating a guesthouse on the allocated land plot can submit their proposals until 13:00 hrs on July 15. The tender price is set at MVR 25,000, with tender books available for purchase between June 24 and July 1. Tender books will be sold on working days from 10:00 hrs to 12:30 hrs. Additionally, a pre-bid meeting is scheduled for July 2 at 13:00 hrs.
The announcement further specifies that only partnerships or companies registered in the Maldives, alongside locals, are eligible to submit proposals for the land. It also states that the company must not have any shares owned by foreigners.
Kaafu atoll Himmafushi, located about 20 minutes from the capital city of Male' via speedboat, has been gradually expanding its local tourism sector and currently has 17 guest houses. However, the 200-room guest house to be built on the land issued by the Himmafushi Council will mark the island's first guest house or city hotel featuring such a large number of rooms.
Himmafushi is widely known for issuing land plots for the work of various industries. While the island council makes a generous income through these land plots, their biggest focus is currently on expanding the island's local tourism.
