A total of 534 projects proposed by the incoming government of President Elect Dr Mohamed Muizzu has been included in the 2024 State budget.

As per the budget report published by the Finance Ministry, MVR 1.5 billion has been allocated for the incoming government's projects. This includes 197 ongoing projects and 337 new initiatives.

The projects proposed by the incoming administration include road development, airport development, land reclamation, work related to schools and health facilities, and construction of mosques.

The largest scale project proposed by the incoming government is the reclamation of Fushidhiggaru Falhu. MVR 400 million has been allocated for this project. Although the amount has been allocated in the budget, there is no clarification yet on how the funds will be raised. In light of the budget proposal, it is assumed that the funds will be sought through loans.

Muizzu has pledged to reclaim 1,200 hectares of land in Fushidhiggaru Falhu and to allocate more than 11,900 plots of land and 26,000 flats from the location.

In the 2024 budget, MVR 8.6 billion has been set aside for PSIP projects. The largest portion of this is reserved for airport development and the transport system. MVR 3.2 billion is assigned for airport development projects and MVR 1.6 billion for land reclamation projects.
